Week 4

New Life. New Vision.

Goodwood Community Church

After playing professional baseball and working in collegiate ministry at two universities, Casey Williamson felt called to plant a church. When Trinity Baptist in the Old Goodwood neighborhood donated their property, Casey and three elders launched Goodwood Community Church in Baton Rouge.

Casey’s vision for GCC is a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation focused on life-long ministry and reaching families. In the first year, the church celebrated seven baptisms and added 20 members.

Community engagement drives their growth. When church members hosted a jazz concert in their front yard, a neighborhood couple attended, eventually accepting Christ and being baptized.

Before receiving money from Georgia Barnette, the church only had one bathroom for over 100 people. GBO helped add a bathroom and flooring in the sanctuary foyer. Your Georgia Barnette gifts are instrumental in helping this new church plant establish its ministry in Baton Rouge and reach their diverse community with the gospel.

Prayer Needs

  • For Goodwood Community Church to develop a culture of evangelism and missions.
  • For the many unchurched visitors coming to GCC worship gatherings to be saved and discipled.
  • For effective community ministry through the church’s upcoming outreach events.
  • For generous giving to the Georgia Barnette Louisiana Missions Offering so more church plants like Goodwood Community Church can receive vital support.
