Day 7

Rebuilding Hope

Rebuilding Hope

An On-Going Effort

Like so many in south Louisiana, a hurricane turned Mrs. B.’s life upside-down. After Hurricane Ida, her home was unlivable. Many nights she ended up sleeping in her car. But Louisiana Baptists Disaster Relief Rebuild, along with Baptist Collegiate Ministry teams and a disaster relief college intern, stepped in and completed the necessary repairs on Mrs. B’s home.

Through these connections, Mrs. B. went from a nominal church attender to an active member of Christ Baptist Church in Houma. The Louisiana Baptists Disaster Relief Rebuild Program depends heavily upon your prayers and your support of the Georgia Barnette Louisiana Missions Offering. So far, 28 projects in the Houma area have been completed including homes, a church, and an associational office.

When we think of disaster relief, we often think about the efforts to feed, care for, and make initial repairs from hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. In truth, Disaster Relief teams are in it for the long-haul. Mrs. B. lost her home temporarily but found a new church home among compassionate believers.

Prayer Needs

  • Pray for endurance for church members, many whose homes still need significant repairs.
  • Pray for opportunities to serve their community.
  • Pray for resources needed in the reconstruction process.
  • Pray for the Lord to give Robert wisdom as ministers and evangelizes in the harvest fields of Reserve, Louisiana.
